Saint Gregory’s Chaplaincy Team

Over the last two years we have been working very hard at Saint Gregory’s to establish our own school Chapel. The Chapel was officially opened and blessed by Bishop Declan in May 2014 and the children have been enjoying using this space every lunchtime to deepen their own relationship with God. To support the running of the Chapel and help plan and lead the prayer life of the school, we have established a school Chaplaincy Team. These children work as spiritual role models, offering others guidance and support in using the Chapel and assisting Mrs Blanch with planning and leading Gospel assemblies.  This team has begun to train other children and staff in aspects of chaplaincy and regularly meet with other Chaplaincy teams to share their wonderful work.

The team meet regularly to discuss their roles and identify further ways to support their peers to grow spiritually. They also uphold a regular timetable of duties to enable the successful running of the Chapel as it is open for use every lunchtime.

The children currently working as part of the Chaplaincy Team are:

Prayer Bears

There is a new addition to our St Gregory’s School family in the form of Prayer Bears! At Monday’s Gospel Assembly, the School Chaplaincy Team launched this new initiative to support the prayer life of our school, which ties in with Bishop Declan’s Year of Prayer starting at Advent. Each class will   receive ‘Gregory’, a bear to encourage and help the children to pray, and his prayer bag full of special resources. If Gregory does pay your home a visit, please look after him and ensure he returns to school so other children can benefit from taking him home.
