Y1 Preparation & Transition

What do we hope children can do as learners before Year 1?

We understand that Year 1 is a big step from EYFS so we try and ensure the transition is as smooth as possible.

  • We expect Year 1 to have lots of fun!

  • We expect Year 1 to respect others and be kind to their peers.

  • We expect Year 1 to have a positive attitude to their learning and support those around them.

  • We expect children to become more independent as the year progresses by…

    • Sometimes working without an adult.

    • Getting equipment for themselves.

    • Get dressed by themselves, toilet themselves and do up their coat.
