What are homework expectations in Year 4?

Year 4 are given weekly homework on a Friday - English (spellings) and Maths. This should be returned with homework diaries on the Thursday. Occasionally we will set homework projects (usually over a half term or longer) which are designed to engage children in the current, or new, topic.

When do Year 4’s reading records need to be handed to the teacher?

Reading books can be changed every day (or as needed) children are expected to do this themselves. Children will read 1:1 with an adult at least once a week. Reading records should be brought into school every day so that we are able to read with your child as/when opportunities arise. These should be handed in with homework on a Thursday.

Will my child be going on any trips this year?

Yes, your child will be going on trips. So far we have planned in the following:

Egyptian Workshop – 7.9.2016
Literature Festival – 7.10.2016
Waitrose – 5.10.2016
