Our work will be centred round a topic for two school terms at a time. Where possible, many of our National Curriculum subjects will be linked with this topic to enable the children to make links across the curriculum and provide a context for their learning.
Our focus topics will be as follows; Term 1 & 2 – Cheltenham Spa Term 3 & 4 – Extreme Survival Term 5 & 6 – The Maya. Some homework is research based and you may find the internet or our local town library helpful for this homework. There, you can borrow books and use the internet for free.
We will be taking part in school trips which reflect the learning outcomes for each topic and so we have already planned to visit The Wilson and go on a walk around Cheltenham in Terms 1 and 2.
We will also be visiting Waitrose during the year for our usual food technology workshop.
PE kits should be in school every day. Throughout the Autumn terms Year 6 will have PE coaching on a Thursday with each class taking alternate turns. Both classes will have PE on a Monday and there are additional PE sessions scheduled for Chedworth Class on a Friday and Gretton Class on a Tuesday for the weeks when they are not having PE coaching sessions.
There are lots of exciting trips and activities to look forward to and enjoy in Year 6. These include:
The Wilson - Cheltenham Workshop
Cheltenham Council Chambers
Activity Week trips
Year 6 Leavers Mass
SATs week will be held nationally during the week beginning Monday 14th May – all Year 6 children MUST be in school this week.
