St Gregory’s Rationale for providing Remote Learning:

  • Stay connected with families – particularly at a time of uncertainty and worry.
  • To be a constant for our children.
  • Help children to learn new content by using teaching videos.
  • Provide a routine/some structure to help parents and children to focus.
  • To have daily contact with our children through messaging.
  • To support and encourage peer interaction.
  • To give feedback to our children that will enable them to progress.
  • To mirror as close as possible our broad and balanced curriculum in school. Focussing on important

St Gregory’s fundamentals: Catholic Social Teaching, Oracy, Metacognition and Retrieval and Vocabulary building… to name a few.

Remote Learning while in Self-Isolation

If your child has now been asked to remain off school until you receive results for a Covid-19 test or has been ask to self-isolate due to Track and Trace as a school we are expecting your child to continue learning at home (unless they are feeling unwell). We will be using Oak Academy (an online platform endorsed by the government) to support learning.

Oak Academy - https://classroom.thenational.academy/schedule-by-year

Below are the expectations that we would like you to follow:

  • Login to Oak Academy every day.
  • Use the ‘schedule’ for your child’s year group and complete tasks for the day.
  • Support your child by following our ‘tips and tricks’ checklist for supporting Home Learning.
  • Message your child’s class teacher via Class Dojo once a week to share work and to let us know how your child is.
  • Accept a call from your child’s class teacher (this may be from an unknown number due to the school network).

Home Learning while school is closed

DoJo

At St Gregory’s we have planned for a number of possible scenarios relating to the different types of closures we may be faced with. If the school was to close for a local or bubble lockdown, our teachers would plan for learning to take place at home via teaching videos, written tasks, online games and using other appropriate resources. We would be using Class Dojo as our Learning Platform and will post work each day, ready for 9am.

Our Expectations of you:

  • Check into Class Dojo from 9am each day.
  • Complete learning tasks in the order to suit you and your family’s needs.
  • Support your child by following our ‘tips and tricks’ checklist for supporting Home Learning.
  • Message your child’s class teacher every day (one piece of work only please as this allows us to give more detailed feedback) to share work and to let us know how your child is.
  • Attend weekly zoom meet up.
  • Any technical issues, please email: homelearning@st-gregorygreat.gloucs.sch.uk
